Abstract:

Java is now over 12 years old and in these last 12 years we have seen many changes and advances in the Java platform.  This talk will cover the key features of the latest versions of the Java Platforms, including Java Standard Edition 6, Java Mobile Edition, Java Enterprise Edition 5, Scripting, Java Realtime and Java FX.

Presenter: Simon Cook

Simon Cook has worked for Sun Microsystems and with Java technologies since its introduction in 1995.

Having received a degree in Computer Science from Brighton University Simon joined to Sun as a systems pre-sales technical consultant in Finance and then Media sectors.

In the past five years Simon has been working as a lead Java consultant in the Solutions Technology Group. His qualifications include a BSc in Computer Science as well as being a Sun Certified Enterprise Architect.

Simon's current role is as a pre-sales technical specialist in Sun's UK software practice.
