IJTC 2007: Apache Geronimo, Leveraging Open Source

Abstract:

Apache Geronimo 2.0 is one of the first open source application servers to certify as fully Java EE5 compliant. Geronimo leverages many Apache projects, such as Tomcat, OpenEJB, CXF, Axis2, OpenJPA, MyFaces, and more, to help make it a powerful application server. How do all these projects fit and work together to build this Java EE5 compliant stack? This session will present an overview of Apache Geronimo, its architecture, its major open source components, how it works, and how to configure and use the application server. This session will cover Geronimo's different concepts such as the kernel, GBeans, plugins, and running and configuring the application server. It will show how Geronimo leverages these other open source components and how you can pick and choose the perfect stack for your needs.
