The Best Java Tools You Never Knew Existed
I was at an awesome presentation yesterday at JavaOne of the long tail of Java tools that not many people have come across, which I had to share. So, in no particular order, and with my own emotive comments:
- Apache Abdera - work easily with Atom feeds. See also Rome.
- Antlr - this parser generator can look daunting, but it's pretty easy once you get your head around it. Can be used to parse things like complex URLs where regexps are not up to the job.

Irish JUG Members,
I am half Irish (O'Dunne) but look German, so I don't think that's going to win me any points with you guys. I thought it gave me the right to join you, however, after trying all morning to reach your President with this message. Please know that this is the only JUG to which I belong at the monment, and I would very like to remain a member permanently. JUGs have been very supportive of my work in the past.

Apology, No Aplology
IJTC 2007 is a wrap. What a week, exhilerating and exhausting at the same time, but at the end of the show somebody had to make a complaint. Summoning some last reserves of energy, Barry (Mr Organizer) held back the expletives, waiting for the assault, only to be told that there were too many good sessions and it was impossible to go to all the good ones.

IJTC 2007 Rocks
Check out the line up for IJTC 2007, it's looking pretty good!
There's a great mix of sessions, both expert and introductory and lots of useful stuff. Word from the organizers is that there will be plenty of fun stuff on the side too.
P.S. I'm looking forward to downing and few scops afterwards.

Finally did it - we're off Meetup.com!
Sometimes it can be a little bit scary jumping off the deep end, but finally I cut the cord and dubjug.org is flying solo. Massive thanks must go out to Luan for all the work he put in to get this site up and running.
I'm looking forward to the things to come! Now all I have to do is work out how to post up events in Drupal ;)
Dublin Reconnaissance
Ah, what a good name for a hostelry.
and an even better address....
I must get my friends at the Dublin JUG to have a meeting here ;-)
